Medicare Advantage Plans
Recently, the Medicare Modernization
Act introduced several new options for Medicare eligible
patients. These plans are called Medicare Advantage
Plans and currently there are over 450 of them nationwide, offered by a
number of private insurance companies. Since
SouthCoast does not participate with all of these plans, we wanted to
provide you with information regarding our participation so that you
could include this in your decision making process. Of course,
SouthCoast will continue to participate fully with Medicare Part B
(traditional Medicare).
While SouthCoast does not endorse Medicare Advantage Plans over traditional Medicare and encourages you to research them carefully, we recognize that some of our patients may opt to select one for their health care coverage. Because of this, the physicians of SouthCoast Medical Group have made the decision to participate in 2012 as follows:
· Private Fee-for-Service (PFFS) Plans = SCMG accepts all PFFS plans.
· HMO Plans = SCMG limits participation to Coventry and WellCare.
· PPO Plans = SCMG accepts many
PPO Plans. Please check with your medicare advantage plan carrier
to confirm participation with our physicians.
Should you enroll with a plan that SCMG does not accept; your SCMG physician can continue to see you on a self pay basis.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact your SCMG physician’s office. You may also visit the following links for more information regarding the Medicare Advantage Plans:
